Position Overview

Bison Ridge Fire LLC is hiring qualified Wildland Firefighter I (FFT1) personnel for on-call seasonal deployment on engine and handcrew assignments. This role is intended for firefighters with prior wildland experience who can operate independently, follow tactical direction, and contribute to safe, efficient fireline operations.

Firefighter I personnel are expected to demonstrate strong fireline skills, situational awareness, and professionalism in all operational environments.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced wildland firefighting duties on engines and handcrews

  • Construct, improve, and hold fireline using hand tools and power equipment

  • Assist with mobile attack, progressive hose lays, and structure protection

  • Execute mop-up operations to agency standards

  • Serve as a reliable squad or engine crewmember

  • Operate within the Incident Command System (ICS)

  • Maintain accountability, communication, and situational awareness

  • Inspect, clean, and maintain firefighting tools, PPE, and apparatus daily

  • Uphold Bison Ridge Fire LLC policies and NWCG standards


Required Qualifications

  • FFT1 (Single Resource qualified or task book initiated/complete)

  • RT-130 

  • Arduous Pack Test 

  • S-130 / S-190

  • ICS-100 / ICS-200

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to pass background check

  • Prior wildland firefighting experience required


Preferred Qualifications

  • Engine experience (Type 3 and/or Type 6)

  • S-212 (Chainsaw)

  • Firing operations experience

  • EMT or higher medical certification

  • CDL (Class B or higher)

  • Experience on state or federal incidents


Physical & Work Requirements

  • Meet NWCG Arduous fitness standards

  • Hike steep, uneven terrain in heat, smoke, and adverse conditions

  • Work extended operational periods (16+ hours)

  • Lift, carry, and operate firefighting tools and hose

  • Live and work in remote fire camp environments for extended deployments

Employment Type
